David
Arnold is internationally acclaimed for his versatile and wide
ranging musical talents. A consummate all-round musician, he started
his career as a leading player in one of the world’s top orchestras
and now divides his time between his great loves of conducting,
composing and arranging. He is also in great demand as a producer
and music consultant on concerts and recordings, due to his
unparalleled experience of every area of the music industry.
David’s conducting career has enabled
him to work with an amazing range of artists in both the classical
and pop worlds

Stewart to Evelyn Glennie, Julian Lloyd-Webber and Larry Adler. He
has conducted the world’s leading orchestras, including the Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic,
RTE National Symphony, BBC Concert and London Concert Orchestras,
Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera North.
He is Associate Conductor of the Royal
Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, a post he has held for over ten
years and is Music Director of two major annual events; the BBC
Children in Need seven-hour live television appeal and the Cathcart
Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
As a composer and arranger, David has
had an extraordinarily varied career, producing radio themes for BBC
World Service, Classic FM and most of the BBC’s local radio network.
He has a vast library of arrangements covering all genres, from
classic greats and opera to musical and film scores.
Internationally, David records in the United States for a month each
year and has conducted concerts around the world, his most recent
ventures taking him to Japan, Italy, Russia, Sweden, Monaco, Turkey,
Greece, Estonia and the Czech Republic.
Born in 1951, David began studying
percussion at the age of 12. He was educated at the Royal College of
Music in London where he was awarded a foundation scholarship. On
graduation, he accepted a principal position with the Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra and was also appointed Music Professor at the
Guildhall School of Music.
In 2002 he was honoured to receive the
‘Red f’ award from Classic FM in recognition of his outstanding
contribution to classical music.
